Every printed project is a combination of budget, time and quality. Working through each one of these items ensures that your printed result meets the best quality/time/money ratio.

When you start planning you have to first determine the job requirements. Remember that EVERYTHING costs something and no one likes to be surprised by the final cost of a project.

Budget is by far the strongest influence on design and production. As much as everyone would like four-color logos, brochures, and catalogs, it is just too expensive for most projects. Check files for print in Indesign

Working in Indesign can be a pleasure or a huge pain if you are not very organized, especially when you have documents with many pages.  I like to work clean and to check items before I place them but at the end I recheck things, just to be sure.

First, you should have a look at you  page panel, the pages with a little square near let’s you know what pages contain transparency.

Set up a flyer in Photoshop

For projects with a maximum of 2 pages I like to use Photoshop. I don’t have to worry too much with the file size and I can design more complicated stuff, edit pictures on the spot, effects and so on.  For those who are like me I’ll write how to set the document correctly for print purpose.

Open Photoshop and create a new file (Ctrl+N), name your file if you want. From the Preset tab choose your paper type and then your flyer size. For print is very important to set the Color Mode to CMYK and set the Resolution at a minimum 300 dpi. Click OK and you will have a A4, 300 dpi on CMYK document.

Vector graphics are made with the use of geometrical elements and are based on mathematical equations. Points, lines, curves and other geometrical shapes are used to create vector graphics. Vector graphics files store the lines, shapes and colors that make up an image as mathematical formula. A vector graphics program uses these mathematical formulas to construct the screen image, building the best quality image possible, given the screen resolution.
