Every printed project is a combination of budget, time and quality. Working through each one of these items ensures that your printed result meets the best quality/time/money ratio.
When you start planning you have to first determine the job requirements. Remember that EVERYTHING costs something and no one likes to be surprised by the final cost of a project.
Budget is by far the strongest influence on design and production. As much as everyone would like four-color logos, brochures, and catalogs, it is just too expensive for most projects. Therefore, you must keep the project parameters within the limits of what you are able to spend. Continue Reading Planning Print Projects…

As you already read in my previous post, I’m preaching about working organized. I do believe that working like this saves you a lot of time and in the world we are living in I don’t think there is time to waste.
File Naming is another thing that can help you save time. If your files are called ‘brochure_good_final’ then you have to read this post.
Take the time and develop a consistent system for naming your files. Doing so will allow you to identify your files more readily, and you’ll find it much easier Continue Reading File Naming Conventions…
Create your own PARADISE

As usual this morning I was going to the office. With the headphones on…very sleepy. I was very surprised to see something ” new” on this street I’m going. It’s an ordinary street, apartment buildings on each side, very dull.
I see something and I can’t believe my eyes. I go closer and WOW…here it is..in the middle of the town, on a dull street somebody has built a little corner of paradise. In something that appears to be an old tub I see fishes and on the side two little turtles are resting. There are sea shells all over the place and different plants. This is amazing. It’s important to remember that you’re the EXPERT

I felt the need to write this article after a recent experience with a client. Things got very complicated during a project and I wonder how many other designers had similar experiences and how they managed the situation.
I got an email from a client I’ve worked before that was asking for a logo. I was very happy to take the project and since I’ve worked with him before I didn’t sent any contract or asked for down payment. I was trying so much to please the client and totally missed all standard measures. The client told me he has no idea of what he wants but he will see the samples and go in the appropriate direction. This didn’t scared me, I’ve worked before with undecided people and everything turned OK. Continue Reading It’s important to remember that you’re the EXPERT…
FIAR 2010

FIAR is an annual event that takes place in Sinaia in the last week of May. It’s a huge event that gathers representatives of all major European insurance and reinsurance companies which use this opportunity to meet with their high level counter-parties from Russia & CIS.
This year me and my colleague worked on a huge list of printed materials, web graphics and animations. For 3 weeks we created all from brochures, roll banners, to flash animations and video montage. It wasn’t easy but the results made us very proud. Enjoy!
